Over de insecten
Cyclomatus metallifer finae is een hertkever uit de familie Lucanidae, afkomstig uit Indonesië en omliggende eilanden in Zuidoost-Azië. De soort is herkenbaar aan zijn sterk ontwikkelde, gewei-achtige kaken (mandibels), die bij mannetjes aanzienlijk groter zijn dan bij vrouwtjes. Deze kaken worden gebruikt bij gevechten tussen mannetjes om toegang te krijgen tot voedsel of partners. De soort heeft een opvallende metaalglans, die varieert van groenachtig tot goudbruin afhankelijk van het licht.
Catoxantha opulenta behoort tot de familie Cerambycidae, de boktorren of steenhouwers. De soort komt voor in delen van Zuidoost-Azië en is herkenbaar aan zijn langwerpig lichaam, lange antennes en levendige kleurtekening. Boktorren leggen hun eieren in levend of recent afgestorven hout, waarna de larven zich door het hout boren. De larven kunnen jaren in het hout leven voordat ze verpoppen.

Catoxantha opulenta belongs to the family Cerambycidae, the longhorn beetles.
