Callipogon cinnamomeus is een van de grootste boktorren ter wereld — en in deze lichtbruine kader met naturel achtergrond komt dat formaat volledig tot zijn recht. De warme tonen van het kader sluiten naadloos aan bij de kaneelbruine kleur van het insect, waardoor het specimen als een natuurlijk geheel wordt gepresenteerd.
De soort behoort tot de familie Cerambycidae en komt voor in Midden- en Zuid-Amerika. De naam cinnamomeus verwijst naar de kaneelbruine kleur van het lichaam.
Mannetjes zijn herkenbaar aan hun sterk ontwikkelde 'mandibels' — krachtige kaken die worden gebruikt bij gevechten met rivalen om toegang te krijgen tot vrouwtjes. De larven leven in levend of afgestorven hout van grote tropische bomen, waar ze zich jarenlang kunnen ontwikkelen voordat ze verpoppen. De soort speelt een belangrijke rol in het ecosysteem als afbreker van dood hout.
Volwassen exemplaren zijn actief in de schemering en nacht. Ze voeden zich met plantensap en rijp fruit, en worden aangetrokken door licht.

Callipogon cinnamomeus is one of the largest longhorn beetles in the world — and in this light brown frame with a natural background, that scale is fully apparent.
